Present study on 3-,5- and 7-ply plywood from soft timber species like Populus ciliata having ply of equal thickness indicates that a quality WWR grade of plywood can be prepared at the minimum of 1618 ±3.54% compression loss at 110 °C hot press temperature with corrosponding improvement in the densit, of the finished plywood product by 43.84 ± 8.60%.- Plywood from Populus ciliata-studies on Pressing Conditions

The study on 3-ply and 5-ply plywood from Populus ciliata shows that the required glue shear strength for WWR grade of plywood in both construction is achieved in 9 minutes of pressing duration at pressure of 14.0 kg/cm2. But if pressure is increased to 175 kg/cm2 the same stength is achieved in 3 minutes pressing duration in 3-ply plywood as compared to 6 minutes pressing duration in 5-ply plywood. Again with increased pressure at 21.0 kg/cm2 both 3-ply and 5-ply plywood achieved the required strength in 3 minutes of pressing duration. Compression loss was also studied, which shows an irregular trend in lower pressing duration. However, the rate of mean compression loss for same pressing duration with increasing pressure was observed rather high as compared to the same pressure with increasing pressing duration.- Hot Setting Animal Glue Composition for Tea-chest Plywood
